Paris 2024: Wheelchair Basketball Competition Schedule Released




The opening wheelchair basketball match at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games will feature a clash of European teams, as Great Britain faces Germany in the men's Group A game on 29 August at 10:30 CEST. The International Wheelchair Basketball Federation and Paris 2024 have unveiled the competition schedule, with the wheelchair basketball events running from 29 August to 8 September.


The matches will take place at the Bercy Arena in the heart of Paris, where eight men’s and eight women’s national teams will compete for Paralympic glory. Both the men’s and women’s tournaments will kick off on 29 August, just one day after the Opening Ceremony. The men’s first game will see Great Britain going head-to-head with Germany, while the women’s competition will start at 12:45, with European silver medallists Great Britain taking on Spain in a Group A matchup.


The pool stages for both tournaments will run until 2 September, followed by the knockout rounds beginning on 3 September. The format includes round-robin games within each group, leading to the quarter-finals, semi-finals, and ultimately, the finals. The men’s finals are scheduled for 7 September, with the women’s finals set for 8 September.

**Women’s Competition**


The group draw for the wheelchair basketball tournament at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, held on 14 June, has sparked excitement among athletes and fans as the world’s top teams gear up for a showdown in Paris.


In the women’s competition, Group A will see Great Britain, China, Canada, and Spain battle it out in what promises to be a fiercely competitive series of matches. Group B, which includes reigning World and Paralympic champions the Netherlands, alongside Japan, the USA, and Germany, is set to be just as thrilling, with each team bringing its own strengths to the court.

**Men’s Competition**

In the men’s wheelchair basketball tournament, Group A is set to deliver high-intensity action, featuring a mix of European powerhouses. Hosts France have opted to join this formidable group alongside European champions Great Britain, as well as Germany and Canada, both of whom have a storied Paralympic history.


Group B, on the other hand, highlights defending champions USA, who will face tough competition from strong teams like Spain, the Netherlands, and Australia.
