Pop star Justin Timberlake was charged with drunken driving early Tuesday in the upscale New York village of Sag Harbor in the Hamptons. Police reported that Timberlake ran a stop sign and veered out of his lane around 12:30 a.m. while driving a 2025 BMW.

The singer-turned-actor, 43, was stopped by an officer who noted in a court document that Timberlake's eyes were bloodshot and glassy, his breath smelled strongly of alcohol, he had slowed speech, and he performed poorly on all field sobriety tests. Timberlake admitted to having one martini and said he was following friends home. He was arrested and taken to a police station in East Hampton, where he refused a breath test. The court papers listed his occupation as "professional" and noted he is "self-employed."

After his arraignment Tuesday morning, Timberlake was released without bond. He faces a misdemeanor charge of driving while intoxicated, with his next court date set for July 26, according to the Suffolk County district attorney’s office.

Celebrity run-ins with the law are not uncommon in the Hamptons, with figures like Billy Joel and Martha Stewart having had similar experiences. Edward Burke Jr., Timberlake's local attorney, confirmed the star's next court appearance but offered no further comment. Timberlake’s California-based representatives did not respond to requests for comment.

The arrest attracted many curiosity seekers to Sag Harbor's Main Street, where they took photos outside the municipal building. Even music legend Billy Joel, a Sag Harbor resident, was seen observing the scene outside the nearby American Hotel.
